Scott H. Gan has been selected by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit

TUCSON, Ariz. (August 26, 2014) – Scott H. Gan, shareholder with Mesch, Clark & Rothschild, P.C., has been selected by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit as the next bankruptcy judge to serve in Tucson.

Gan has been practicing law for thirty-four years.  As a graduate of the University of Arizona James E Rogers College of Law, his career began in the Pima County Public Defender’s office.  He then moved into private practice working in the areas of workmen’s compensation and social security disability before joining Mesch, Clark & Rothschild in 1986.  It was there that he established himself as a premiere appellate and bankruptcy attorney.  He is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy, business reorganization and appellate procedures.  He has been a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute since 1997 and is a Master of the Arizona Bankruptcy American Inns of Court.

In 2007 he co-wrote Guide for Self-Represented, (General Civil Appeals and Appeals from Decisions of the Arizona Industrial Commission), Supreme Court of Arizona, for which he received the Arizona Judicial Branch Achievement Award from the Arizona Supreme Court.  Gan has been listed in Best Lawyers in America in the area of Appellate Law since 2007, and in May 2014 was admitted as a Fellow into the venerated American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

Since 2002, Scott Gan has been recognized every year for his pro bono bankruptcy service to the community, earning recognition with the Lifesaver and Bankruptcy Attorney of the Year awards from the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Southern Arizona Legal Aid; the William E. Morris Pro Bono Services Award from the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education; and the Pro Bono Service Award from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, along with being recognized as a Top Pro Bono Attorney on five occasions.
